CD-R’s won’t play in my DVD player

I have a fast Plextor CD writer, but have one problem. I use a DVD player to play my audio CD’s. All purchased CD’s play fine in my DVD player, but no disc I’ve burned with my writer seems to work (although they work fine in a regular CD player).Is there anything I can do to create a disc which will play in my DVD (Toshiba) player?
