CDROM and CD Burner Drives gone!

by dools56 . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

I am running Windows ME.

For some reason, my CD ROM and CD Burner drives are no longer recognized by windows when I reboot.

The CD ROM drive door will not open when I press the button. I don’t think it is a power problem because the light usually comes on for a while during boot up.

As for the burner, the drive does not appear after boot up. But if I put a blank CD in and the ADAPTEC software prompts me how I want the CD formatted. After that, the Drive seems to be known to windows until I reboot.
