CDROM boot problem

When I enable CRDOM boot in cmos it takes a long time for the system to boot if there is no cdrom in the drive. (I’m talking 5 minutes) I have flashed the BIOS to the latest version and no change. My CDRW is secondary master, my CDR is primary slave. Any suggestions?
