Certified Internet Webmaster Certs

I recently completed a CIW Web design course and I am reviewing my course work. Before I actually pay the money to take the exam, do you think it is a certification worth pursue, I was laid off from my job on 10/15/01 and I’m seriously looking a newcareer in web design.
