changed paths

After installing and uninstalling Windows ME and returning my OS back to windows 98 I have found that Windows ME has left changes within my system. The current residule it left behind was changing file paths for some shortcut items, which I can’t figure out how to find to change them back to the proper path. The main one in question is the My Computer icon on my desktop, it was changed to find files instead of giving the information on my computer. How do I fix this problem. The same problem and question apply also to my maintance scheduler.
