Chimes from apoint.exe

I have a process (seen in the task manager) named APOINT.EXE that causes my laptop to generate a ‘chime’ (audio tones) whenever a new page is displayed or data is keyed. If I end the process (again with the task manager), the machine remains stableand the chimes stop.

Any ideas what this ‘APOINT.EXE’ routine is used for or why it is generating these aggravating tones?
