Cisco VPN 3000 client setup Problems

Under some verisons of the Cisco Systems 3000 VPN client when you are connected to the VPN client you are disconnected from your LAN! Has any one seen this before and how did you correct the problem. I have tryed ver 2.5.2 – 3.1.0 the only somewhat stable ver is 3.0.1 rel-9.
