Communication with Lexmark Printer

by pat.boyle . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

I have an Hewlet Packer Pavilion 6535 computer running Windows 98 and a Lexmark X-73 printer/scanner/fax/copier unit. when I try to print the message reads, “the printer is not connected to the port or is off-line, please connect the printer to enable installation alignment”. I also get a voice message that sys, “problem communicating with the printer”. I have replaced the Lexmark X-73 with the same results. I have pulled down the drivers from Lexmark’s website. I have wiped out everything on my hard drive and reinstalled the Lexmark software, Microsoft Office & Windows 98. I was going to install new bios but the only two available were for Windows XP and ME. I have had a few lines print at one time, but then it cuts off and gives an errormessage. Also could not find compatability problem on HP or Lexmark web sites
