Compaq laptop screen display malfunction

I have a Compaq LTE 5300 with an intermittent problem in the LCD display. Upon booting up occassionally the display will only show a blank “white” screen. The laptop boots up as the system can be manually shutdown. With remote monitor plugged in – never a problem.

This has occurred a number of times – sometimes after one boot it will be back to normal the next time – other times two or three times blank – then normal again.

I removed the keyboard and double checked all connections to the motherboard.

Best quess – poor connnection in LCD – cable problems – LCD problem??

When in docking station – never a malfunction.
