I have a compaq pc 5000 (ya I know) and a compaq laptop 1622 (ya ya). Both of them were running very poorly. So I recieved the quickrestore disk and the recovery disks from compaq, inserted the quickrestore and the systems hang at the a drive for ever. I inserted the recovery disks and the system hangs at the a drive. I called compaq again and they said that they will not, nor will microsoft, handle any win95 or win98 questions, because they are no longer under any obligation to do so. win2000 will not load on these computers because of compatability issue on pci devices. (No drivers). I used the holding the caps lock and numbers lock technique to get them to go to the quickrestore page, but they still hang. The original problem with the pc, is the pci devices stoped working, and I cannot get the drivers to work, computer can not find them on the win98 or win95 disks, nor anywhere on the hard drive. And I cannot open the resore or recovery disk to find the files. Can anyone assist?
