Computer “re-boots” itself

by james_randy . Updated 25 years, 10 months ago

I have a PC with AMD’s K6 233 processor, 64 mb ram, Win95 (b version), with a 3Com NIC & ATI graphics card, in an ATX case. It has 3 internal hard drives. C-Drive is the Win95 boot drive, D-drive is a “backup” drive, E-Drive has DOS 6.22 OS. This computer is used for both windows and DOS applications. The boot sequence in the BIOS is changed to define the drive on which it boots (either the Win95 C-Drive or the DOS E-Drive). About 4 times a month (not on regular intervals) the computer actuallyre-boots itself. It has happened while in both Windows and DOS applications – on both hard drives. To me, this eliminates a software related cause. I’m leaning towards a reset switch short or motherboard cause. Any ideas different than mine?
