computer wont boot

by pctech . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

This computer was working fine. I removed the video & hard drive for approx a month to use in another computer. When i refitted the video card and hard drive back into this computer it will no longer boot. The hard drive and cpu fan spin up etc but there is no output to the monitor at all and no beeps from the system speaker. I have tried the video card and hard drive in another PC and both work fine. The monitor is ok because it works with other systems. I have tried another known working power supply and speaker in case of problems there. it seems the system hangs during the post before anything is displayed on the screen but it gives no error beeps. I have stripped the motherboard down and reassembled it to eliminate things such as chipcreep in the cpu or memory modules but still no luck.
Can anybody suggest anything I can try or how can I tell if the M/B is faulty without replacing it?
The components I refitted (video card & hard drive) were the oringinal parts from the system.
