Computer won’t restart

I have an Asus CUSL2 motherboard and I’m running Windows ME. Anytime Windows tries to restart the computer I get stuck in a black screen. Windows quits without a problem but then the screen goes blank. I then have to manually press the restart button to get it to boot up. I don’t get the ScanDisk program so I know Windows is shutting off.
