Constant read of A: drive for Favorites

I am on windows 98 and use both Netscape Communicator 4.7 and Internet Explorer 5.5. In using IE and access my Favorites from the title bar my a: drive is accessed continuosly. I can click on my favorite link and it takes me there but the a: driveis still active. I have not accessed the a: drive for any reason. It seems to be looking for the Favorites file on a 3.5 disk. I have never saved my favorites file to a disk. Where can I check or make a change to correct this annoying problem?
