Copy Protect CDR’s

I have a user I support who wants to find a way to copy protect cd’s that he creates and sells to people. I know that our record industry employs similar technology so it has to be out there somewhere but I’m having a tough time finding any info onit.
Is this technology available for the general public? If so, is it software or hardware driven and where do I find the information on it?
