Hi,
First day here on the guild- looks like you guys (by your answers) are top-notch. Heres the situation: A socket 7 MB (S7-MVP3 manufactured by Xcess[out of business] and sold by Tiger Direct-if that helps) that currently has a old Pentium 166 running with no problems, client just wants to upgrade it. Tiger told him that it could upgraded to a AMD K6III 333. But when I did the install it didn’t work, the machine wouldn’t even boot. *There was no settings in the the manual for the K6III butI used the settings for the II. So I figure that the board won’t support the III and I recommend that we just stick with what is in the manual- a AMD K6III 300. I set all the jumpers according to the table, Voltage, Multiplier and Bus speed and the system still won’t boot! I took a look at AMD tech specs for that chip and it says that the correct multiplier is 4.5x , but the Tigers tech sheet shows it as 3.0. So I tried it both ways and guess what? no boot! I’m going crazy with this seemingly easy install. Any ideas? My email address is brake@sasquatch.com if you wouldn’t mind sending me a reply there because I don’t know if I’m going to subscribe to this site or not. Thanks again.
Brad
