Cursor Problems

I’m using Win98se, IE5 from a clean install. From time to time the mouse stops working and the cursor goes to the top left of the screen and then runs around the desktop, opening and closing menus, taskbars and Applications. This happens when onlineor not. The only solution is to shut down. I have tried cleaning the mouse and using a different mouse.
