The system is crashing at random intervals. I booted in sfae mode and it worked fine. I then did a selective startup disabling all start up programs except explorer ans sys tray.OK I then selected the startup programs one by one and tested until I had reached normal startup. The system now appears to be working ok. I cannot recreate the problem! When the system crashed the mouse just froze and the keyboard was not responsive. There was a message displayed prior to win startup FIXED OPTICAL DRIVE NOT FOUND but windows shows the DVD and it functiond correctly. This message does not now appear. I run TUFFTEST PRO diagnostics and it reports FIXED DISK NOT INSTALLED. I fell i’m going round in circles and lossing hair in the process. Can anyone offer any suggestions? The system runs Win ME, p3 850MHz, DVD fixed, removable floppy, 128 memory. I don’t want to return it to the customer without identifing the cause.
