Dell Latitude CPi Touchpad

I reformatted my hard drive and installed Windows 2000 on my Dell Latitude CPi. Everything worked fine, except for the touchpad. No matter what I try, I cannot get the touchpad to work. I can attach a mouse to it, and that works fine. I downloaded the drivers for the Synaptic touchpad, but it won’t work. Any suggestions?
