SOS – Urgent!
I have tried everything I can think of and so far nothing has solved the problem. I have a P55 Pentium 233Mhz MMX CPU with 128 Mb ram on a Chaintech 5TDM2 motherboard using Windows 98SE.
Symptoms: Screen freezes using scrollingtext screensaver, openGL screensavers, or when I click on the Properties/Setting icon box. These symptoms happen when I have changed the settings to 16 bit or 32 bit colors. No apparent problems with 16 colors (lowest option available). No problems using Standard Display Adapter (VGA) with this card.
What I have tried so far: I did an fdisk on my hard drive and reinstalled Windows 98SE with only my modem, sound card, printer driver, and DirectX 8.0 installed. Added cooling fans, changedPCI slots, downloaded latest drivers from s3graphics.com, adjusted refresh rates, and changed hardware acceleration settings.
Any other suggestions?
