Direct Cable Connection/Password

by jbpis . Updated 24 years, 12 months ago

I just bought a new laptop loaded with WIN 2000. I want to transfer my data from my old Desktop running WIN 98. I tried connecting via DCC/LPT1 on the 98 and New Connection on the 2000. 2000 keeps asking for a password and domain for accessing the old computer. There is no password requirement on the 98. I tried that and when it wouldn’t accept that I tried the 2000 password I establlished. I also went throught eh various option on the Properties in 2000 and do not require a password. The obvious question is how do I establish the connection. 98 sits there waiting to be contacted over the LPT1, but no matter what 2000 reports a denial of access. Second question is: when I do get a connection (thanks to help from one of you) where will I see the folders set for sharing on 98 on the 2000. The obvious is Windows Explorer, right. But under a drive or computer name listing on the main tree?
