Direct cable connections

Hi

I want to know if I can use direct cable connection on a computer that has no operating system installed. The Hard dive is formatted and booted with a boot disk. I need to install windows but there is no CD ROM in the computer. I want to use ashared CD player on my computer to get access to the CD ROM so that I can copy the Setup files? The host is a notebook computer.
Or is there another way ore program that can be used to connect to the shared CD ROM so that I can setup Windows?
