Disappearing floppy drive after SP6…

My NT box suffered a horrific blue screen death(after I tried to install a web cam against manufacturers suggestions…), brought it back to life with an ERD from another NT box, pretty much everything still there and working. Well low and behold Irealized I don’t have a floppy drive (no icon) it won’t start in services (error 0020, device not found), did all the usual tech net searches etc. I have a HP Vectra PIII X386 SP6, I think it’s the SP6 that killed it believe it or not, I found a thread on BrainBuzz that seems to have the same circumstances; http://networking.brainbuzz.com/boards/viewmessage.asp?b=S2B15&bm=SM38528&mp=1&mx=30&md=1&st=2&sd=1&np=1&rt=0(same
