Disappearing Printers

I have a Win 98 2nd Addition PC that the printers will disappear from the printers folder. If I re-boot the PC, they will re-appear. There is no consistantancy with this occurance, it is just random. I have re-installed Windows, re-installed the port drivers and switched out printer cables. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
