DNS / Wins Woes

by jjohnson . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

I have a small network and have problems getting nslookups to return properly…..I routinely get request timed out.
Some of the workstations do return the information as expected.
About a month ago i deleted my WIns and DNS services from my PDC and re-installed them. I also entered “A” records for each of my workstations manually, creating associated pointers at the same time. It didn’t seem to help much, if it all.

Network access is o.k. but we use a ERP package that uses DNS to authenticate licensing for the clients, ergo the delema…very slow performance for the workstations having trouble.

I have also noticed some clients work o.k. then after a while they just slow down.

I run a switch right out of my servers and have fournetwork segments tying into the switch as well. NSlookups work fine on the servers (mail, data, pdc, terminal server)

Where should i start tyring to track this down?
