Double listings in device manager

I have a white box with a 800 mghz cpu, 128 mb mem, via chip set. Win98 se and alot of programs installed. I now have two keyboards listed, two wave devices, two direct memory access controlers. I can remove them but it just reinstalls at next reboot even if I tell it not to. A new program will not install if every thing is not running great so I need to fix this. I can not reinstall because the wife has too much stuff she can not move right now. And she will reboot me if I try to do any thing right now 🙂 Any ideas?
