Dual operating systems

We have partitioned our hard drives on seven classroom computers to run Windows 2000 one on partition and XP on the other. Each operating system works well within its own environment. When switching between operating systems the second system does not recognize the domain ID. With some tinkering with the computer properties the switch will take place. Any suggestions on a less bumpy switch.?
