Excel Invoking Word (Office 97)

Hello helpmates!
I received this question from a co-worker today and wondered if anyone out there can offer wisdom.

“do you know how to build some magic into an Excel spreadsheet that would allow the client to press a button and have a Word template pop-up for them automatically?”
