ExplorerSysTrayStops

I recently purchesed a ASUS a7v-333 256mb 40g
1466 amd xp I wanted to run 98se and 2k i got them both loaded and 2k runs fine but the 98se seems like it is running fine untill about 25 seconds after i start doing stuff it will start hanging(it will be fine if i just let it sit there) when i press ctrl alt del it says:

SysTray(not responding)
Explorer(not responding)

I have the latest chipset and bios drivers

Any suggestions? Thanks
