Fatal Error in VSERVER.VXD when printing

Our office has a 4 workstation peer-to-peer Win98SE network (ugh – I know). When printing to a shared printer (Canon BJC-4650) the computer woth the printer locally attached brings up a Fatal Error in VXD VSERVER (01) message – also causing the originating computer to freeze. I have updated printer drivers, changed the printer from one computer to another & reinstalled all network components (services & protocols) to no avail. Network stats: MS Client, NetBUEI, TCP/IP (static IP – for internet proxy), MS File & Printer sharing. Can anyone help me with this?
