Fdisk, install win98. No sound, 16 color

I had to fdisk, format c: and reload Win 98.
Now, unlike Win95, it did not detect my sound card, my High resolution monitor. I have been through device manager removed monitor, add new hardware. Still no sound Still only a measly 16 colors.
How do I get Win 98 to detect my sound and monitor.
I have tried setting Advanced Monitor adapter but its a bit like trial and error and every time No 256+ colors, and no Sound
Please, Please HELP
