FIC AZ11E On Board Sound

I have put together a system for home use. An FIC AZ11E board, Duron 750, ATI Expert 128 and Kingston NIC. When I installed Win2K, all the hardware was found, including the onboard modem and AC97 sound. Only problem is that there is no sound, noteven directly off the cdrom drive. I downloaded the latest drivers and I have gone through the Bios to make sure the sound system was enabled. I realize that I have missed something, but what is it?
