FORMATTING A LOGICAL DRIVE

by lilone1 . Updated 24 years, 12 months ago

i’m trying to format a logical drive it is on a 4gb harddrive. c drive is 2gb and d drive is 1.7 gb,both totaling 3.7gb or 100%usage according to fdisk. i booted the pc from a boot disk and typed format d: the formatting process begins but around 82% the hard drive begins making a wierd noise that sounds to me like someone is welding on metal then i get a message: not ready format terminated. From the dos prompt i can access the drive but can’t view it’s content with the dir command, get message: invalid media. does all this mean that the hard disk has a bad spot on it. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
