Freezes or Re-boots or PowerSave

by lmayeda . Updated 23 years, 10 months ago

My PC had been going to PowerSave (while I’m actively typing) or re-boots or hangs (no mouse/keyboard response) until it died completely. I took it to the shop where they replaced the mother-board, the power supply and the hard drive. The PC was operative again but the symptoms remained to a lesser degree. I’ve swapped the monitor with no difference. The PC is connected to a new UPS. I don’t know if the memory was swapped when the motherboard was replaced. I’ve switched from W98 to W2k. It is not a factor of heat because it often has trouble simply booting up. I’ve scanned it for viruses using the current DAT file. I frequently find new “FOUND” folders.
When it boots up, I try to close as many extraneous apps as possible. Am atwit’s end. Thanks in advance.
