FTP date create

When i up load files from my pc to the server via ftp programs. the create date of the file is changed from the one of the local file to the current date for the version on the server.

How to i make so the server uses the create date of the localfile? Is it an option on the FTP server? or is it an option on the FTP client? if is the client could you tell me which ones do it thanks
