Gameport activation

Windows keeps telling me that my joystick is not connected to the game port when in fact it is. My bios has the port enabled. No matter what device I select under “game controllers” the status is always listed as “not connected”. The joystick is a Logitech Wingman Attack. It’s not the stick because a CH Flightstick won’t work either. Iv’e been to the Logitech website. There dosen’t seem ttoi be any help there either. What have I missed??
