Getting a Compaq 4712 BOM ID on 10GB HD

Ok, I did see some posts before and I am about at wits end with this — HOW can I install a 10GB drive in an old Compaq, whose BIOS doesn’t support 10GB (thus requiring Ontrack overlay software) AND get a BOM ID on it? I have tried and I can’t seem to get it to work, unless (oooh… idea!) if I try putting the BOM ID right after putting the overlay software on it and nothing else is on the drive yet.

Well, if anyone else has a bright idea, I think you’d be getting the max points out of thisone!
