Global Modem Access

My managing director often travels overseas from Australia to USA, UK, Germany, France and Italy. He takes a notebook PC with modem. We are subscribed to AT&T global ISP so we have phone numbers etc for each country. My problem is that we can’t always connect to the ISP. What I’m looking for is sme form of software whereby it allows you to seletc which country you are in and adjust you modem settings automatically. We have both inbuilt modems and a Xircom realport 56k. If anyone could help it would be much apprciated, or if there are any other ideas that people know eg hotels where lan access is possible or faster modem access.
