GRAPHICS DRIVERS

I want to install a new graphics card pny verto geforce 3. The instructions start with uninstall existing vga driver when I attempt this the system either stops or I get a message that this uninstall is not available. OS ME, 9month old computer.Will present driver just be archived or will installation create a conflict.
