Hard drive

I installed a Belkin USB 2 card in my Gateway 400 pc. The pc has 2 hard drives (9gb)with W2K and (40gb)with XP. Both recently crashed a month after I installed the card. I have not been able to recover the PC, every now and then the computer willstart up but it waits for long periods of time. Only under the W2K will boot. I have contacted Microsoft and they say that this card is not compatible, and Belkin said it is compatible.
