Hard Drive Installation

I have installed a second hard drive as master on the secondary IDE. Prior to this I had a Syquest SparQ drive on that IDE channel.
The problem is that under Windows 98 the new hard drive is only recognised as a Type80 disk (not Type46) and I can’tuse DMA. I have uninstalled the SparQ drivers.
Any suggestions how I might solve this problem?
