Hard Drive Installation!!(I know,it soun

I went to replace a hard drive in a Packard Bell Legend 1824CDT after partioning it, it won’t boot from a floppy.It booted the first time,checked the CMOS it’s set right,checked all connections. If you put the HD in another machine take out the partitions it will boot again but after setting partitions it hangs right after the floppy lights-light stays on it just sits there. Any help would be great.
