Our Pentium 90 upgraded to a pentium 155 and operating system upgraded from WIN 95 and 3.11 to Win 98 lost Win.exe when a corupted version of Netscape was downloaded and installed. The Netscape Download killed the WIN 98 Kernel program and a message to reload Windows printed. The system refused to recognize the CD Rom and testing by Renaissance Computers said the main controller failed -onboard I/O. I added a high speed IO Board and another Western Digital Hard Drive 4 GB like the one I can’t read now. Norton Utilities 2000 said the boot sectors were blown and attempted to rewrite—however no data on my old drive is readable. Tried a data rescue service and it also said no data found—yet I had a good drive–Western Digital 4GB only a year old when sent to Renaissance Computers for reloating windows 98. Their office closed and moved the following week and I suspect that their disgruntled tech may have wiped my
hard drive. Any good ideas as how best to recover????
