Help! CD ROM stopped working

I have recently installed XP, and low and behold, I have problems! I have been using my cd rom for the last couple of wks and was working fine – until the other day, it stopped working. The drivers seem to be fine and there are no conflicts in the device manager. It is being picked up as a drive, but won’t read anything……. any answers?
