Help with drive A

I have the old cyrix 686 with 64mb of ram. 6 gig hard drive 300mhz system. What i have a problem with is when i turn on the system and the computer goes through the boot seq. the computer says disk boot error, please put in system disk. I have system disk, but what i noticed is the floppy drive does not come on. You can’t hear the heads workingor the led blinking. It just stays on all the time, so i know there is powerto the floppy. My question is how do i kick start the floppy into working, i did replace the floppy drive and had the same result. Hopefully i have given you enough information about what is happening.
