Home Automation – Will it ever work?

I am a bit of a techno gadget freak, who loves new technology. Particularly that which is design with people, not electronics in mind. Human centric computing I feel will be the only way we will ever reach any sort of saturation of home automation products. Plug N Play, Lonworks, X10, Bluetooth – who knows which product will make it to the fore? Hardware manufacturers, software manufacturers, developers, distributors are all fighting for a share of the pie. Where then, will the money be made? When will all of this finally evolve – the era of ubiquitous home automation?
