HP CD-RW conflict with CD-ROM

Installed HP CD-RW with existing CD-ROM…everything working fine except the existing CD-ROM won’t play music. The CD burner plays the music CDs just fine but when turn on CD-ROM to play music no sound comes out…LED lights are on. Secondly, is it normal behavior for HP CD-RW to have solid color LED when playing music CD? Thanks
