HP Deskjet 1220 C hang ups

I am having problems with printing to an hp deskjet 1220C printer. It was installed about a month ago. It runs off one computer (PIII-933) 256 MB RAM, 600MB free on C, several GB free on D; and is shared to 3 other pcs. All are running NT 4 sp5.The problem is often that when printing, the print job gets stuck, the pc that is sharing the printer gets hung up. I’ve looked through help and not found anything very useful. What kinds of things can I try to fix this problem? Thanks
