HP P4 2.2GHz CPU Fan failure

Has anyone seen a one time halt when booting with WinXP where the message said that there was a CPU Fan Failure and to replace the fan immediately. Then no halt after rebooting and not replacing the fan. And none since. Is this an XP thing?
