IBM THINKPAD 770X

I have recently had to re-install a Think Pad 770X and have been coming across various unresolved issues.
1) The Hard Disk controller – although loaded is showing up as not working properly.
2) The modem, again reinstalled fine (used the older driver and then ran the compatibility diskette in Mum & Dads way.
3) It seems to have problems with the infrared port not being open

Please let me know if any one can sort out these issues for me. SHould you require further information
